Often the saying ‘they don’t make them like they used to’ can have a double meaning. It’s fair to say that many of the materials used 100 years and more ago have surpassed the test of time. Often we see reclaimed timber being re-used in vast quantities to remake timber products. It’s also fair to say that in the past they hardly took into account energy efficiency, which has now become so relevant in the world today. Our refurbish program is a simple range of services which the primary focus is on sliding sash windows, yet can be equally applied to standard casement windows and even historical doors.

We at All Windows Wood take the view therefore that refurbish windows, particularly on listed buildings, is the best option as often the restoration of what may look like a rather sad and drafty window or door, may just need a new lease for a very long life. Our refurbish program also extends to various up grades that retain the character installing high levels of insulating and economy saving features. Below are the 4 options that you have to choose from to restore the character of your home.


Option 1
  • An experienced team will carefully remove existing sashes.
  • Our joiners will test any for any excess moisture content and wood rot which will then be professionally repaired or replaced to match the existing design.
  • All sash ropes/pulleys and hardware are replaced.
  • All cracked or broken glass is replaced.
  • Where putty on the glass is poor this is repaired or replaced.
  • You can have the windows just primed for others to decorate or our painterwill complete this for you.


Option 1 is ideal in order to return your windows to the day they were first installed as far as is practically possible.





Option 2
  • An experienced team will carefully remove existing sashes.
  • Our joiners will test for any excess moisture content and wood rot which will be professionally repaired or replaced to match the existing design.
  • All sash ropes/pulleys and hardware are replaced.
  • All cracked or broken glass is replaced.
  • Where putty on the glass is poor this is repaired or replaced.
  • You can have the windows just primed for others to decorate or our painters will complete this for you.
  • All sashes are carefully rebated, special weather and insulation seals are fitted to further stop those drafts and rattles.

Option 2 will return your windows to the day they were first installed as far as possible with considerable energy saving features.


 



 
Option 3
  • An experienced team will carefully remove existing sashes.
  • Our joiners will test for any excess moisture content and wood rot which will be professionally repaired or placed to match the existing design.
  • All sash ropes/pulleys and hardware are replaced.
  • All cracked or broken glass is replaced.
  • You can have the windows just primed for others to decorate or our painters will complete this for you.
  • The sash part of the window will be remade to include the ultimate in energy efficient double-glazing practically invisible to the human eye.

Option 3 returns your windows to the day they were first installed as far as is practically possible. Ultimate energy saving features is included while still retaining the character of your property.



 




Option 4
Sometimes not all windows can be repaired. There might be a time after our survey where we will test existing timbers for any rot or excess moisture and the day may have come that one or more of the windows need replacing, as even "WE” can’t repair them.

Our own factory joiners are able to manufacture any wood windows from the most basic design to the most complex replacement. This will ensure that you get a replacement window to match the existing design of your windows doors or conservatories however the option is to have the latest environmental and energy saving features.
